After many years as a Warrant of Fitness authorised testing center we now outsource all of our WoF’s to VTNZ. Why? Because it provides our clients with an independent view of what their vehicle requires for a WoF to be issued, allowing us to focus on any required repairs and the wider maintenance needs of the vehicle. For our clients, the process is the same, with the WoF check handled by our staff, which means that any repairs can be dealt with immediately.

How often is a WoF required?

The age of your vehicle dictates how frequently your Warrant of Fitness is required. The length of time a WoF is issued for is calculated based on the vehicle’s date of first registration in New Zealand or overseas.

  • Vehicles first registered 1999 or earlier require WoF assessments every 6 months.
  • Vehicles registered on or after January 1st 2000 require annual WoF assessments.
  • Vehicles less than 3 years old don’t require a WoF until the third anniversary of registration, or 12 months after their current WoF expiry date, whichever is longest.
  • New vehicles, after an initial check, don’t require a WoF until the third anniversary of registration.

Regular servicing helps makes WoF checks painless

A Warrant of Fitness (WoF) is a useful check to ensure that your vehicle meets required safety standards. WoF checks can be daunting for many vehicle owners, but regular servicing should ensure that there are very few unexpected issues. At The Toy Shop, we aim to give clients a clear picture of their vehicle’s maintenance needs, which means that most foreseeable WoF issues will have been fixed or discussed before the WoF check.

How much does a Warrant of Fitness cost?

Our team will manage the WoF process for you, for the same price as you dealing direct to VTNZ.
